As expected, Gov. Rick Scott appointed Carlos Lopez-Cantera, the Miami-Dade property appraiser, as lieutenant governor to fill the months-long vacancy created when Jennifer Carroll resigned.
He is the state’s first Hispanic lieutenant governor, according to a written statement.
Lopez-Cantera was a member of the Florida House for eight years and was majority leader from 2010 to 2012. He was elected as property appraiser in 2012.
