Anthony Simms was sentenced to eight years in federal prison for passing forged U.S. Department of Treasury checks - including some for deceased people.
He also was convicted of theft of government property and aggravated identity theft.
He pleaded guilty in October, according to a written statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Tampa.
