It was a Saturday like no other in my journalism career.
As the new reporter in the Evening Independent newsroom in 1976, the Saturday reporting duties were mine, including the police beat.
I went to the booking desk at the St. Petersburg Police Department early that day. At that time, it was the place where anyone arrested by the department was booked in the jail.
