St. Petersburg City Council is slated to consider a new lease for its Bayfront Medical Center property today as the hospital tries to finalize its partnership deal with Health Management Associates.
The lease and its terms are the council’s last chance to exert some kind of control over its legacy hospital’s future. The city owns the property occupied by Bayfront, and a new lease is necessary for HMA, a for-profit public company, to take over the non-profit hospital.
