Odyssey Marine Exploration reported a third-quarter loss of $900,000, or $0.01 per share, compared to income of $3.8 million, or $0.05 per share, in the same quarter a year ago.
The Tampa-based company attributed the loss primarily to larger Gairsoppa shipwreck project cost recoupment in 2012 as compared to the same period this year. Odyssey (Nasdaq: OMEX) also cited the impact of a one-time Black Swan expense of $1.1 million, which involved a court-ordered payment to Spain related to legal fees.
