The National Hurricane Center downgraded Tropical Storm Gabrielle to a depression, prompting Puerto Rico to discontinue its coastal warnings and watches. The system is expected to produce heavy rainfall – 4 inches or more – over Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and could cause flash floods and mud slides. The depression was 105 miles west-southwest of Ponce, Puerto Rico, and moving northwest at 9 miles per hour with winds of 35 miles per hour.
