Kojak’s Palmetto Rib House closed last weekend after more than a decade of serving up barbecue and music.
Joe Fortney and his wife, Veronica, opened the restaurant in the fall of 2002, creating a Manatee County version of the well-known South Tampa eatery, Kojak’s House of Ribs.
Fortney had worked in his family’s Tampa restaurant for almost 25 years before opening his own establishment, which featured live music three nights a week and a reputation for preparing ribs.
