The sale of nearly 61 tons of shipwreck silver boosted Odyssey Marine Exploration’s fourth quarter income to $10.8 million, or 13 cents a share, compared to a loss of $900,000, or 1 cent a share, in the same quarter a year ago.
The silver bullion was from the SS Gairstoppa, a British cargo steamship sunk by the Germans in 1941 off Ireland. Tampa-based Odyssey Marine (NASDAQ: OMEX) conducted two expeditions to the shipwreck, according to a statement.
