Steven J. Wasserman, a Venice dermatologist, has agreed to pay $26.1 million to settle allegations that he violated the False Claims Act by accepting illegal kickbacks in a Medicare fraud scheme.
It is the largest settlement ever with an individual under the act in the Middle District of Florida, according to a written statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.
