Tampa man sentenced to five years in prison in tax fraud case

A Tampa federal judge sentenced James Earl Smiley to five years and a month in prison for committing stolen identity tax refund fraud. He pleaded guilty in March to theft of government property and aggravated identity theft, a written statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
