The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the state, alleging Florida is violating the Americans with Disabilities Act in its administration of service for children with significant medical needs.
The DOJ alleges that nearly 200 children with disabilities are unnecessarily segregated in nursing facilities when they could be in their family homes or other community-based settings, according to a written statement.
