Gov. Rick Scott vetoed from the state budget $2.5 million for Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
The money would have been used to initiate planning, design and construction of facilities to support graduate medical education.
LRMC is the first member of the new USF Health System and plans to become a teaching hospital. It plans to build a new clinical academic building for the 200 to 250 graduates of the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine.
