International Paper plans to close its manufacturing plant in Lake Wales and will lay off 61 workers.
The layoffs will take place between June 19 and July 2, according to a letter from the company to the state under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
The closing of the International Paper (NYSE: IP) container plant at 4025 Highway 60 West is expected to be permanent.
About 50 of the employees are represented by unions.
